Depth

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I never really mention what i do these IF pieces in. Mostly I do all the colouring in photoshop from a drawing on paper. This one is a black pencil drawing combined with a newpaer collage, then aranged on photoshop.

I'm drowning in over information, knowledge through the written and spoken word. Is that you floating at the top or are you also in the depth? Nice effect and good idea :) Like your new avatar!

I like the double depth effect -- down the depths of the ocean and through the layers of text. Great!

Nice concept, great colors. Good job in your execution.

Sunk underneath the weight of words. It's kind of funny because I found myself trying to make out some sort of meaning, staring at the patterns, picking at parts of words.

The colors completely brought me into this piece. Sort of lonely and mournful almost? Great stuff!

I like the long vertical layout that suggests depth, the layering of type to create another kind of depth, the varying shades of slate blue, and the little man overboard! This works on all levels for me!

Shucks, thanks everyone. Seems like this one hit the nerve I was aiming for. I usually try to fit my image into the viewable screen so you don’t have to scroll to see it properly. With this one I ended up having to extend it twice as it just wasn’t conveying the depth that I wanted it to have. Plus it brings in an interactive element into the work.
The main idea from this comes from a fear I have of the deep dark ocean. I don’t have a phobia of the sea or water just the idea of a deep dark cold ocean (Think the Titanic)
Also I’m sure a lot of you have had those feverish dreams where you feel like this enormous weight is overwhelming or crushing you (It’s probably your doona/blanket) it’s hard to explain but for me it’s felt like I’m this tiny little person being crushed by a inconceivably huge ball. I’ve also had one where when you look at the ceiling whilst lying in bed with the light out it seems it’s thousands of kilometres away. Or is this just me??

Great, I loved scrolling down and down.

I have tried too a log vertical layout to suggest depth...Actually yours works much better than mine, which is 800px deep...I like your style, quite peculiar

It still feels like it could be longer :), I should start thinking more in pixels for web stuff...

Oh, this is creepy and brilliantly done! It works so well as webcomic type picture - I was scrolling down trying to pick out words and was startled when I got to the bottom - yikes!
